An Assistant Commissioner of Police, Christopher Osakue has committed suicide in Benin, Edo State. Punch is reporting that Christopher who was in charge of training and development at the state command allegedly shot himself in the head with his own service pistol at his home residence located on Upper Sokponba on Wednesday. It was reported that Osakue had suffered a partial stroke few years ago and was recovering gradually from the stroke before he took his own life.
Reports are stating that the deceased sent the people (a woman and a little boy) living with him on an errand before he killed himself. A neighbor was the one who heard gunshot inside Mr Osakue’s residence around 5pm and after the gunshot, a frightening silence engulfed the entire building.
Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu confirmed the incident did happen on Friday, and he explained that the pistol Mr Osakue used was signed for at the Ondo State Police command before he was posted to Edo. He also described the death of Mr Osakue as a suicide case.
