A high court in Katsina State on Thursday sentenced Mu’ammar Tukur, the son of a former district head of bakori to death by hanging for homicide. Tukur, 32, whose later father did represent Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, was actually convicted for using a knife to stab Shafir Muktar to death, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
During his judgment, the Justice, Justice Abbas Bawale said the prosecution prove the case they were in causing Tukur was able to establish that he did commit the homicide beyond a reasonable doubt.
The prosecution called 5 witnesses and 4 were tendered to exhibits which was able to establish 3 needed ingredients which were – death of the victim, cause of the death and intention of the action.
The incident occurred on the 21st of April 2008 when a fight broke out between the convict and some of the witnesses the prosecution brought in during at a viewing center. The defence counsel weren’t able to contradict the evidence the prosecution brought in and anytime they tried, it was futile.
